NOTE - 14-digit API Numbers:
Each drilling permit and well has a unique API number assigned to it. API numbers are made up of the state code (Utah = 43), the county code (the 3-digit numbers shown above), and a 5-digit number sequentially assigned as each well is permitted within each county. In Utah, when the 11th and 12th digits are used, they identify each hole, or hole segment, permitted and drilled within a well, with the first hole always being numbered '00'. These hole segments are sometimes referred to as 'Constructs.' Utah is currently not using the 13th and 14th digits to identify anything, and they are always set to '00'. API numbers are assigned by the Division when drilling permits are issued.
