- LiveData Search The "LiveData Search" link allows the public to perform searches of the Division's Oil and Gas database. Information available includes basic well information, monthly production and disposition data, injection data, PDF well files, log images, drilling permits, spud dates, and more.


- Data Explorer "Data Explorer" provides another option for the public to search the Division's Oil and Gas database. It provides a Search pane, a Details pane that provides details of the selected records, and an Interactive Map. For help in using the application, click on the "?" in the upper right-hand corner. This program was built under the direction of the Ground Water Protection Council with funding from the Department of Energy.

- Drilling Permit (APD) Search This links to LiveData permit information where data can be searched and downloaded (EXAMPLE: To search for permits within a specific date range, the first drop-down box should say "Date Approved"; The second box should be changed to show "Between"; In the third box, the date range should be entered as "1/1/2006, 12/31/2006").
This search page allows users to view Utah oil and gas drilling permit expiration dates. Utah oil and gas well drilling permits (APDs) are generally valid for one year. It is the operator's responsibility to monitor permit expiration.

Oil production is reported in Barrels (42 U.S. gallons) -- abbreviated as BBL.
Natural Gas production is reported in Thousand Cubic Feet -- abbreviated as MCF (1 MCF = 1,000 CF).

NOTE: Coalbed Methane wells are classified as Gas Wells in the state of Utah. CBM production is included in the state's published natural gas production volumes. The first coalbed methane production in Utah occurred in 1987.

- Stripper Wells LiveData list of stripper wells from the most current production year. A stripper oil well is an oil well that has an average daily production of 10 barrels of crude or less per day over a 12 month period. A stripper gas well is a gas well that has an average daily production of 60 MCF of natural gas or less per day over a 12 month period.
- Production Sales Value A chart showing the annual sales values of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.
- Production Taxes A description of Utah's primary oil and gas production taxes or fees.

PLEASE READ:


THIS DOWNLOAD CENTER OFFERS USERS THE ABILITY TO DOWNLOAD "LARGE" DATA FILES FROM THE DIVISION'S DATABASE.

This option is intended for researchers who desire to compile information for large portions of the state. For example, the Well Data file contains information for the wells in Utah, and the Production Data files contain the monthly reports for all producing wells in the state.

These files are now in "csv" file format and can be opened in a spreadsheet program such as excel. They have been zipped for faster downloading.


For smaller projects, try using LiveData Search or Utah Data Explorer Well Map, both located on this website. Monthly production reports (in pdf format) and other information can also be found under the Publications tab.
