Well Information Search Overview

This search section presents general information for oil, gas and injection wells. All pages provide options for data to be searched, sorted, and saved to csv (spreadsheet) files. Click on items in the blue menu bar above to navigate the system.

Search Wells

This option presents basic well information, such as well type and status, location, and cumulative production. Links are also provided to monthly production reports, brief historical data, scanned well logs, and scanned well file documents. NOTE: Using a well's API Number (American Petroleum Institute standard format for numbering) is usually the most acurate way to pinpoint searches for individual wells. All API numbers for Utah wells begin with 43 (the API state code for Utah). The next 3 digits represent the county (see county codes). Digits 6 thru 10 are a sequential number assigned when a new well is permitted for drilling. A search done where "API Well Number is Like 43037" will retrieve all wells in San Juan County.

Well History

This form shows selected historical information for each well. This includes spud dates, completion dates, first production, test data, depths, etc. NOTE: Historical information may not be 100% complete or accurate. Much of the data for older activity comes from a previously used database where the tracking of historical information was not a function. Information for work done prior to 1999 has the greatest potential for error. Please feel free to call our Public Information Center at (801) 538-5283 or (801) 538-5279 to confirm the accuracy of data. Limited historical information for confidential wells is available through this program (as of 9/30/2008 ).

Well Formation Tops

This search option presents well formations and top depths from completion reports for selected wells.

Permits to Drill (APDs)

This option presents information for Applications for Permit to Drill (APDs) approved during the past 10 years. A partial copy of each APD can be viewed for permits approved after 5/21/2008.

Spudding (Drilling Commenced) Information

This search option presents information regarding the spudding (drilling commenced) of wells during the past 10 years.

Completion Information

This option allows for searches of information for wells where drilling has been completed during the past 10 years.

Well Logs

This option allows users to search for, view, and download scanned logs for Utah wells.

Well Files

This search option allows users to search for, view, and download scanned well file documents.
